Welcome to the Chariton Community School District!
The mission of the Chariton Community School District is successful learning for all students! Our district is located in Chariton, in Lucas County, Iowa, and encompasses the towns of Chariton, Russell, Lucas, and Williamson. The Chariton Community School District enrolls approximately 1,300 students in PK - 12th grades. We have five attendance centers, all located in the town of Chariton. Lucas County is in south central Iowa and is a fantastic place to raise a family.

As we turn the page on the first semester and begin a new year, January offers a meaningful moment to reflect on the growth, resilience, and accomplishments of our students and staff. The past months have been filled with learning, collaboration, and dedication, and we are grateful for the continued partnership of our parents and community in supporting our schools. As we start the second semester, we do so with renewed energy, clear goals, and a shared commitment to helping every student succeed in the months ahead.
